We start with an exciting walking tour of the beautiful medieval city of Brasov. Getting a taste of the local architecture we explore Prejmer Fortress, a typical Transylvanian fortified church.
To top it all off, the incredible mountain scenery of the Carpathian Mountains will be our companion.
The tour to Peles Castle and Brasov starts in Bucharest where your local guide will pick you up from your hotel. Next, you’ll leave the busy capital behind and head north towards the Carpathian Mountains. In approximately two hours you’ll arrive in Sinaia, a popular mountain resort and home to the beautiful Peles Castle.
Built in 1883, Peleș Castle, a masterpiece of German Renaissance architecture, was the royal residence of King Charles I of Romania. Here you will visit the castle and its gardens and find out more about the building itself and the Romanian Royal Family.
The tour continues toward Brașov, a chic mountain city. In Brasov, you’ll take a walking tour of the city exploring both the old part of the city and the medieval walls and bastions that were beautifully preserved.
Founded in 1211 by the Teutonic Knights on an ancient Dacian area and populated by Saxons, Brasov is one of the seven walled citadels (Siebenürgen) and has beautifully preserved medieval walls and structures. Here you will enjoy a walking tour of the city, have lunch and get to go up by cable car on Tampa, the nearby mountain. The view of the city from above is amazing.
The second day starts by visiting Bran, a village famous for the castle that overlooks it from high on a rock cliff. Bran Castle, also known as the Dracula Castle, does not only have an impressive architecture but also is a place of great stories, myths, and legends.
Although most famous for being the bloody counts lair, Bran Castle is also tied to the history of the Romanian Royal Family and to the Teutonic Knights. Your local guide will give you all the information and tell you all the incredible stories from between the castle’s walls.
Next stop is Prejmer, one of the seven fortified churches of Transylvania, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Prejmer holds the first spot as the strongest peasant fortification from Transylvania and the largest fortified church in southeastern Europe. Like Bran Castle, itis linked to the rule of Teutonic Knights. Prejmer church was attacked 50 times but conquered only once.
